Bloody Mary - (Makes 1 generous drink)

 

Ingredients:2 oz. (4 tablespoons) vodka

1 cup tomato juice

1/2 cup Clamato juice

1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

3/4 teaspoon Tabasco or other hot sauce

1/8 teaspoon celery seeds

1 teaspoon grated horseradish

Pinch of celery salt

Ground black pepper to taste

Juice of 1 lemon wedge

Pickled okra, for garnish

Celery stalk, for garnish

 

 

1.  Fill a 16-oz. glass with ice cubes and add all the ingredients except okra and celery and stir well.  Garnish with pickled okra and celery stalk.

 


 

Bourbon Cherry Lemonade - (Makes 1 stout drink)

 

Ingredients:

1 1/2 oz. (3 tablespoons) Woodford Reserve or other bourbon

1 oz. (2 tablespoons) sweet cherry juice

Lemonade, as needed

Bourbon-soaked maraschino cherry, for garnish (optional)

 

 

1.  Fill a Collins glass with crushed ice.  Combine bourbon, the cherry juice, and crushed ice in a shaker.  Shake vigorously, then strain into the Collins glass.  Top off the glass with fresh lemonade and garnish with a cherry.

 


 

Satsuma Old-Fashioned - (Makes 1 stout drink)

 

Ingredients:

1 small Satsuma or tangerine, sliced 1/4-inch thick (ends discarded)

1 maraschino cherry

2 dashed of Fee Brothers Orange bitters

3/4 oz. simple syrup

1 1/2 oz. Makers Mark bourbon

 

 

1.  In an old-fashioned glass (a short highball) muddle the Satsuma slices and the maraschino cherry with the bitters.  Fill the glass with cubed ice, the simple syrup, the bourbon, and stir until well blended.

 

 

Simple Syrup Ingredients:

8 oz. Granulated sugar

1 cup water

 

 

1.  Heat the sugar and water in a small saucepan over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally, until the sugar melts.  Allow the syrup to cool and then store in the refrigerator until needed.
